This orientation may not be correct for projection so make sure to always check the orientation during your [[inspection]] of the print.

Degaussing

  • why we do it, how we do it
Instructions on proper demagnetizing/degaussing of equipment.

Storage

  • Acetate prints with magnetic soundtracks are especially prone to vinegar syndrome. Signs of decay might be flaking mag track, stickiness, vinegar smell, warping.
  • Magnetic oxide is applied to the film base. For long term storage prints should be emulsion in (so the magnetic oxide will be facing out). Storing prints the wrong oxide in risks "print-through" where-in the track signal is partially imprinted onto the layer next to it. This orientation may not be correct for projection so make sure to always check the orientation during your inspection of the print.
