In the context of projection, automation is the technical means of controlling theatrical presentation systems using devices and processes that reduce the need for human input and intervention. This encompasses the use of dedicated automation control systems that can be programmed to control other devices as well as the use of labor-saving practices such as building film up to large reels or platters.
